Both boys have accelerated their course work and are already more than
90% complete with their age-respective grades!
Johnathan's 2nd grade History, Science, Art and Music lessons have been
ordered and we will be 'accelerating' through them as well. Basically, he
takes the assessments throughout the course to find out what areas he
already knows and what he doesn't. That way, he is not "bored" with
learning the same thing over and over again. Our goal with Johnathan is
to have all his 2nd grade courses (including the Language Arts (he is at
87% complete) and Math (he is at 76% complete) finished by July. That
gives him 5 months! If he is able to complete this, he will be 'bumped' up
a grade and should we decide to put them back in a traditional school, he
will enter at the 3rd grade level rather than 2nd grade. (This was advised
when he was in Kindergarten, they wanted to skip him to first, but I was
afraid, but now I see it is for the best!) Should we decide to continue on
with AZVA (www.azva.org) he would also begin at a 3rd grade level and
they do additional testing to even more specify his specific courses (this
year, he started out with Language Arts and Math grade 2, everything
else grade 1).
My Ry Ry has an impressive school resume under his Kindergarten belt as
well. He has now completed his entire Kindergarten Math course and is
about 10% into 1st grade math. He has just completed Language Arts
and Phonics at the Kindergarten level and we have ordered them both at
the 1st grade level as well. He, too, had his courses customized and
began the year in 1st grade Science, Art and Music and has completed
those as well. He is about 85% through his Kindergarten History course.
We have decided not to rush him through and order the next courses for
him. We're going to let him focus on the Language Arts, Phonics and
History and take the summer off. He is an exceptional learner, but
perfectly at his age level. The 'extra' work in Language Arts and Phonics
will just boost his abilities for next year. We will do more 'artsy'
enrichment activities as he's more of an artistic soul than Johnathan. His
focus wants to be on music and art, Johnathan's on Math and History.
BOTH boys made Honor Roll and achieved 100% (I don't allow them to
move on until they do) on all of their fall semester course work) and both
boys are at 100% (Mastering) right now as well.

I am taking A&P, English, Spanish for Health Care Workers, Ethics in
Health Care, Decision Making in Health Care and Health Care Systems
right now. I plan on taking A&P II, Micro-Biology and Intermediate Math
during the summer and will have all prerequisites complete. Once I am
enrolled in my summer courses, I can apply to the numerous Nursing
degree programs around the metro. I hope to, by this time next year, be
close to taking the LPN Nursing exam and enrolling in the LPN to RN
courses. It will then take approximately 4 years in an University
(preferably ASU) to become a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner.
